I decided to create a lion Dotee. That is after my four attempts at a fish failed. Took me four ruined dolls to get it through my head it was not going to work. Oh well! Such is life in my world.
You can see 2 of 3 I have received here.
The weather was cloudy and overcast all day. We ended up under a small canopy the three of us. It was fun as it was close enough to sit and talk, but not far enough to feel isolated. In between spurts of customers we talked about crafts, thrift shopping, Ebay selling and buying, and the latest tips and techniques. It was really a lot of fun.
The crowd was steady even with the weather. It never rained steadily, but spritzed every so often. The musicians and the man grilling the burgers and dogs ended up on our side of the street so we were in the perfect spot to get in on the action.
We sat right beside the musicians which played all day long. We got to hear the Scottish master fiddler and the jazz quartet. We were not too far from the girl scouts selling baked goodies and the man grilling our free lunch.
It was a lovely day.
At the last minute I remembered I had nothing to display the earrings and necklaces on. Then I remembered the black cooling racks I bought at Goodwill. they were perfect. At times it got quite breezy and the holes let the air flow through instead of knocking them over as my table took the breeze head on!
The fabric covering the table is a piece of polyester that I thought looked fallish and I used some clips to keep the wind from whipping it off. I finished off the look with a winterberry garland and some fall leaves. It looked really festive and certainly like a little bit of fall.
I made a fresh batch for this past weekend’s block party. They were a hit!
Aren’t they pretty (if I do say so myself)????
If you live in or near Richmond please stop by and say hello! I will be set up in front of ReFinery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please say a little prayer that the raindrops stay away!
when a pioneer family taught me that love is having fun.
when a family taught me that hard times bring you closer.
when a family taught me the meaning of roughing it.
when a father had such a booming laugh.
when a mother worked really, really hard.
when half pint was a cute nickname.
when living in a little house on the prairie was something I wanted to do.
when walking to school was a WALK.
Do you remember, too?
and I am all about a good cause. I will share this with you.
Won’t you either make or buy a blanket and send it along? If you decide to participate let me know. And if you can pass the word along! Everyone knows somebody…and it only takes one to get it started! And one to make a difference!
And, remember, on Saturday I will see you here.
A boatload is a lot!
A boatload is 62…
A boatload is made up of silhouettes and Halloween…
It is also comprised of silver jump rings…
And, mostly, it is the result of a lot of work!
Tonight I will be making earrings and placing some on silk cords for necklaces. I plan to make a necklace and earrings set of each design (21 designs in all). It took me part of a day to put the images on the scrabble tiles and then coat them with the stuff that protects them.
I think the images came out great. Some of the silhouettes I especially love. They will make great jewelry for Halloween and for other wear. Half are for Halloween and the other for every day. I have got all the bases covered.
If you live in Richmond and are interested in some of them or some other artsy items. You can read more about where they will be here.
The last two weeks have been spent creating items for the block party this weekend (the 26th from 9a-2p). I have been busy altering scrabble tiles, dominos, making brooches, crocheting flowers, etc., etc., etc. It seems there are a million things to do. I should be able to get them all done in time, but there may be some late nights this week.
I will show you later what I have been making, but for now I want to share what is in the mail this week.
From Caprieblurgenie for the MAD MAMMA swap this awesome mermaid.
And…from Foxwalker this water themed ATC for the MAMMA swap.
Now back to work!
